First poster and trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus

July 24, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

During their virtual panel yesterday at Comic-Con@Home, Crunchyroll and Adult Swim shared a poster and trailer for Blade Runner: Black Lotus, the upcoming in-canon anime series set in the world of the Blade Runner universe.

As revealed during the panel, the 13-episode series will take place in Los Angeles in 2032, a decade on from the Blackout, a mass communications failure which led to the loss of all electronic data, the banning of replicant production, and the downfall of the Tyrell Corporation.

It will follow Elle (Jessica Henwick), a replicant who is being pursued by Blade Runners, with co-director Kenji Kamiyama stating during the panel that: “The series actually explores the character of the female hero, who is facing the world from the perspective of a replicant. The previous films were from the perspective of a Blade Runner. This is from the point of view of someone that is being hunted and someone who is on that side of the world.”

Directed by Shinji Aramaki and Kenji Kamiyama, Blade Runner: Black Lotus features the voice talents of Jessica Henwick as Elle, Will Yun Leeas Joseph, Samira Wiley as Alani Davis, Brian Cox as Niander Wallace Sr, Wes Bentley as Niander Wallace Jr, Josh Duhamel as Marlowe, Peyton List as Josephine Grant, Stephen Root as Earl Grant, Barkhad Abdi as Doc Badger, Gregg Henry as Senator Bannister, Henry Czerny as Doctor M, and Jason Spisak as Hooper.
