First official look at Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel in full costume

August 7, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

While we’ve had a glimpse courtesy of set photos during production, we now have our first official look at Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan in full superhero costume from Marvel Studios’ upcoming Disney+ series Ms. Marvel thanks to a promotional standee which has made its way online via Twitter account MCU Facility. Check it out here…

Debuting in Marvel Comics in 2013, Kamala Khan is Marvel’s first Muslim superhero to lead their own comic book title and is an Inhuman who takes up crimefighting after being inspired by her idol Carol Danvers.

It’s unclear whether the MCU version of the character will retain the Inhuman element, but we do know that she’ll have ties to Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers: set photos have shown Vellani’s Kamala cosplaying as Captain Marvel, and she is also set to follow up the Ms. Marvel series with an appearance alongside Larson and WandaVision star Teyonah Parris (Monica Rambeau) in the Captain Marvel sequel The Marvels.

Ms. Marvel sees Iman Vellani starring alongside Aramis Knight, Saagar Shaikh, Rish Shah, Zenobia Shroff, Mohan Kapur, Matt Lintz, Yasmeen Fletcher, Laith Naki, Azher Usman, Travina Springer, Nimra Bucha and Laurel Marsden. Bisha K. Ali is set as co-writer and showrunner, with four directors including Sharmeen Obaid-Chinoy, Adil El Arbi, Billal Fallah and Meera Menon.

Ms. Marvel has previously been announced as coming to Disney+ this year, although recent rumours have suggested it may be pushed back to early 2021.
