Ana de Armas in talks to lead John Wick spin-off Ballerina

October 31, 2021 by Ricky Church

Fresh off starring in the latest James Bond film No Time to Die, Ana de Armas may be getting ready for another iconic action franchise as Deadline reports she is currently in talks to star as the lead in the John Wick spin-off Ballerina.

Ballerina will follow “a young female assassin who seeks revenge against the people who killed her family.” The character will come from the group seen in John Wick: Chapter 3 – Parabellum led by a woman known as The Director, who trained her students in ballet and as highly skilled assassins with very painful exercises and self-harm to get them to work through pain.

The film is being  directed by Len Wiseman (Underworld) from a script by Parabellum‘s Shay Hatten with Basil Iwanyk, Erica Lee and Chad Stahelski producing.

Ballerina is just the latest growth for Lionsgate’s John Wick franchise. Over at Starz will be the limited prequel series The Continental which will see Colin Woodell (The Flight Attendant) as a young Winston, played by Ian McShane in the films, as he takes ownership of The Continental hotel. Meanwhile, John Wick: Chapter 4 is scheduled for release May 27, 2022 and see Keanu Reeves once again reprising the role of the infamous assassin on the run.

As if Bond and John Wick were not enough, Armas will be seen next in The Russo Brothers’ action spy thriller The Gray Man with Chris Evans and Ryan Gosling for Netflix, while she also has the Marilyn Monroe biopic Blonde incoming in 2022.
