Sylvester Stallone confirms return for Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3

November 16, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

Having recently said his goodbyes to The Expendables franchise after wrapping filming on his fourth and final outing, Sylvester Stallone has now revealed on that he is heading back to the Marvel Cinematic Universe as he reunites with his Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and The Suicide Squad director James Gunn for Marvel Studios’ Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Stallone, who portrays the Ravager captain Stakar Ogord/Starhawk, made the announcement on Instagram, posting a behind-the-scenes video from the set of Guardians Vol. 3 showing him prepping for some ‘face duplication’ – the process of mapping his various facial expressions for digital duplication.

While Stallone is on board, it’s yet to be confirmed whether Stakar will be joined by any of his fellow Ravager captains from the Guardians Vol. 2. However, as we last saw him reuniting his old team of Aleta Ogord (Michelle Yeoh), Martinex (Michael Rosenbaum), Charlie-27 (Ving Rhames), Mainframe (Miley Cyrus) and Krugarr, it seems unlikely that he’ll be popping up alone.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will see the return of Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Zoe Saldana (Gamora), Dave Bautista (Drax the Destroyer), Bradley Cooper (Rocket Raccoon), Vin Diesel (Groot), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Sean Gunn (Kraglin), Sylvester Stallone (Stakar Ogord) and Elizabeth Debecki (Ayesha), alongside newcomers Will Poulter (Dopesick) as Adam Warlock and Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker) in as-yet-unrevealed role.

Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is set for release on May 5th 2023.
