Rumour: Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman to feature in Shazam! Fury of the Gods

December 20, 2021 by Amie Cranswick

The first movie had a cameo (of sorts) from Superman, and it seems that another member of the Justice League may be popping up in next year’s Shazam! Fury of the Gods , if a new report from The Illuminerdi is to be believed.

According to the site, Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman is set to make a cameo appearance in the David F. Sandberg-directed sequel, although its unclear how big of a role the Amazon Princess may play in proceedings (it is, however, presumably be bigger than a headless shot of a stunt double).

A Wonder Woman appearance in Shazam! Fury of the Gods could certainly make sense from a narrative perspective, as is set to pit Zachary Levi’s hero and the rest of the Shazam Family (Shazamily?) against the three goddess daughters of Atlas, an ancient enemy of Zeus, the king of the Old Gods. Atlas’ stamina as one of Shazam’s abilities, as is the power of Zeus, who also happens to be the father of Diana.

Whether this pans out or not, we shall have to wait and see. However, fans can expect another Wonder Woman outing in the not too distant future, with Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins confirmed to be reuniting for a third solo movie.

Shazam: Fury of the Gods is being directed by David F. Sandberg, and sees the return of Zachary Levi alongside fellow cast members Asher Angel as Billy Batson, Jack Dylan Grazer and Adam Brody as Freddy Freeman, Faith Herman and Meagan Good as Darla Dudley, Grace Fulton as Mary Bromfield, Ian Chen and Ross Butler as Eugene Choi, Jovan Armand and D.J. Cotrona as Pedro Pena, Marta Milans as Rosa Vasquez, Cooper Andrews as Victor Vasquez, and Djimon Hounsou as The Wizard. New additions to the cast include Helen Mirren as Hespera, Lucy Liu as Kalypso and Rachel Zegler in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Shazam! Fury of the Gods is currently set for release on June 2nd 2023.
