HBO Max has released a teaser trailer for The Staircase, the limited crime drama series based on the 2004 documentary of the same name which tells the true story of Michael Peterson (Colin Firth), a writer who was convicted of murder following the suspicious death of his wife Kathleen (Toni Collette).

The series features a star-studded cast that includes Michael Stuhlbarg, Juliette Binoche, Dane DeHaan, Olivia DeJonge, Rosemarie DeWitt, Tim Guinee, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sophie Turner, Vincent Vermignon, Odessa Young, and Parker Posey.
The Staircase premieres on HBO Max in the US and on Sky/NOW in the UK on May 5th.
