Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon gets August premiere date, new poster and images

Get ready to return to the world of A Song of Ice and Fire, as HBO has announced that the Game of Thrones prequel spinoff House of the Dragon is set to premiere in August.

Check out the new teaser poster along with a batch of images featuring  featuring Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Milly Alcock and Emily Carey as young Rhaenyra and Alicent, Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Fabien Frankel as Sir Criston Cole, Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon, Eve Best as Princess Rhaenys Targaryen, and Sonoyo Mizuno as Mysaria. Based on George R.R. Martin’s “Fire & Blood,” the series, which is set 200 years before the events of “Game of Thrones,” tells the story of House Targaryen.

House of the Dragon features a cast that includes Paddy Considine (The Outsider), Matt Smith (Doctor Who), Olivia Cooke (Ready Player One), Emma D’Arcy (Truth Seekers), Rhys Ifans (The Amazing Spider-Man), Steve Toussaint (Small Axe), Sonoya Minuzo (Crazy Rich Asians), Eve Best (Nurse Jackie), and Graham McTavish (Outlander).

House of the Dragon will premiere on HBO on August 21st.
