Netflix’s live-action One Piece series fills out its cast

March 11, 2022 by Gary Collinson

With Cowboy Bebop failing to impress and lasting just a single season before being swiftly axed, Netflix will be hoping that Tomorrow Studios’ next live-action anime adaptation fares a little better as the beloved pirate saga One Piece comes to life.

Back in November of last year it was announced that Iñaki Godoy (Who Killed Sara?) is set to lead the series as Monkey D. Luffy, captain of the Straw Hat Pirates, and now Deadline brings word of six more additions to the cast in Morgan Davies (The Evil Dead) as Koby, Ilia Isorelýs Paulino (The Sex Lives of College Girls) as Alvida, Aidan Scott (Action Point) as Helmeppo, Jeff Ward (Hacks) as Buggy, McKinley Belcher III (Ozark) as Arlong and Vincent Regan (Troy) as Garp.

The new cast members join Godoy and the previously announced Mackenyu (Ruroni Kenshin: Final Chapter) as Rornoa Zoro, Emily Rudd (Fear Street) as Nami, Jacob Romero Gibson (All Rise) as Usopp and Taz Skylar (Boiling Point) as Sanji.

Co-written by Steven Maeda (The X-Files) and Matt Owens (Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.), who also serve as showrunners, One Piece “follows the adventures of Monkey D. Luffy and his pirate crew as they explore a fantastical world of endless oceans and exotic islands in search of the world’s ultimate treasure known as ‘One Piece’ to become the next Pirate King.
