Guillermo del Toro shares a set of beautiful images from his stop-motion Pinocchio

Disney may have attempted to wow with the recent trailer for their own take on Pinocchio, but it only needed a series of sumptuous images from Guillermo del Toro’s stop-motion interpretation of the classic story to see where the real magic could be found.

The Oscar-winning The Shape of Water director is finally getting the chance to bring his passion project to life thanks to your Netflix subscription dollars, and he recently sat down with Vanity Fair to talk about what went into creating his own version of the little wooden puppet, but more importantly share a set of stunning images from the film.

Featuring Ron Perlman’s Podesta, Ewan McGregor’s Sebastian J. Cricket, and Christophe Waltz’s villainous Count Volpe, you can check out the pictures here…

Academy Award®-winning filmmaker Guillermo del Toro reinvents Carlo Collodi’s classic tale of the wooden marionette who is magically brought to life in order to mend the heart of a grieving woodcarver named Geppetto. This whimsical, stop-motion musical directed by Guillermo del Toro and Mark Gustafson follows the mischievous and disobedient adventures of Pinocchio in his pursuit of a place in the world.

Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio will be on Netflix in December 2022.
