Official synopsis for Mad Max spinoff Furiosa teases a great Biker Horde, Warlords and a young Immortan Joe

June 24, 2022 by Gary Collinson

Having kicked off production in Australia earlier this month, we now have an official synopsis for Furiosa, director George Miller’s upcoming prequel to Mad Max: Fury Road, which sees Anya Taylor-Joy (The Northman) starring as a younger version of Charlize Theron’s Imperator Furiosa.

The synopsis for the spinoff reads:

“As the world fell, young Furiosa is snatched from the Green Place of Many Mothers and falls into the hands of a great Biker Horde led by the Warlord Dementus. Sweeping through the Wasteland they come across the Citadel presided over by the Immortan Joe. While the two Tyrants war for dominance, Furiosa must survive many trials as she puts together the means to find her way home.”

Along with the synopsis, we also have some set photos presumably featuring some of the aforementioned Biker Horde…

George Miller is directing Furiosa, the fifth entry in his Mad Max saga, while Anya Taylor-Joy is joined in the cast by Chris Hemsworth (Thor: Love and Thunder), Tom Burke (Mank) and Mad Max: Fury Road’s Angus Sampson and Nathan Jones. It is slated for release in 2024.
