Ted Lasso star remains mum on his MCU future after Thor: Love and Thunder cameo

July 23, 2022 by EJ Moreno

Warning: Spoilers for the post-credits scene of Marvel Studios’ Thor: Love and Thunder follow…

Hercules is coming to the MCU, and Marvel Studios has found quite the interesting man for the role.

Since making his brief debut in Thor: Love and Thunder, the internet has been buzzing about Brett Goldstein’s cameo and his possible future in the MCU. However, while fans are speculating hardcore, Goldstein is remaining quiet on the plans for Hercules.

During a Ted Lasso FYC event in Los Angeles Monday evening, the actor mentioned that he has no idea of the plans but called the cameo a “fun three seconds.”

“I truly, honestly — this isn’t me lying or being coy — I know nothing,” Goldstein said. “All I know is what I did that day and that’s it. That could be it. It was a fun three seconds.”

Goldstein does go on to offer up a wonderful story concerning his mother seeing Thor: Love and Thunder without knowing her son was in it. “I didn’t tell anyone because Marvel put a chip in my neck that said ‘If you talk about this you’re dead,’” he joked. “My mom and dad, I sent them a text and said ‘I’ve just seen “Thor.”‘ I knew it’s not the kind of film they’d see. I said, ‘You should go see it. It’s funny.’”

He adds, “My mom is texting me all the way through the film giving me a running commentary. I’m like, ‘Just watch the film!’ It gets to the end bit, where it shows Russell Crowe… My mom texts me ‘Russell Crowe’s in it again, he’s very funny.’ I go, ‘Fucking look up at the screen!’”

It seems like even though Brett Goldstein is joining the family-friendly MCU, he has not lost his signature edge that everyone loves. The actor is currently appearing in the post-credit scene of the latest Thor film and will return in Season 3 of Ted Lasso later this year.

Marvel Studios’ “Thor: Love and Thunder” finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey, unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi), and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.

Directed by Thor: Ragnarok‘s Taika Waititi, who also reprises his CGI role as Korg, Thor: Love and Thunder stars Chris Hemsworth (Thor), alongside the returning Natalie Portman (Jane Foster), Tessa Thompson (Valkyrie), Jaimie Alexander (Lady Sif), Chris Pratt (Star-Lord), Karen Gillan (Nebula), Pom Klementieff (Mantis), Dave Bautista (Drax) and Sean Gunn (Kraglin), with Christian Bale (Ford v Ferrari) as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe (Man of Steel) as Zeus.

Thor: Love and Thunder is in cinemas now.
