Following on this week’s additions of Simone Kessell (Star Wars: Obi-Wan) and Lauren Ambrose (Servant), Showtime has now announced a third newcomer to the cast of Yellowjackets for its upcoming second season in Elijah Wood.
Wood, who is coming off the Ted Bundy crime thriller No Man of God, is set to take on the role of Walter, described by Deadline as “a dedicated citizen detective who will challenge Misty (Christina Ricci) in ways she won’t see coming.”
The Emmy-nominated Yellowjackets tells the story of the survivors of a girls high school soccer team whose plane crashed deep in the wilderness, and the impact it continues to have on them 25 years later.
Wood, Kessell and Ambrose join a cast that includes Christina Ricci, Melanie Lynskey, Juliette Lewis, Tawny Cypress, Ella Purnell, Samantha Hanratty, Sophie Thatcher, Sophie Nelisse, Warren Kole and Steven Krueger.
Season two of Yellowjackets is expected to premiere on Showtime in 2023.
