Emily Blunt to line up alongside Ryan Gosling for David Leitch’s The Fall Guy remake

August 15, 2022 by Matt Rodgers

Emily Blunt is returning to a genre that has served her so well by signing on to star alongside Ryan Gosling in Universal’s action remake of 80s favourite The Fall Guy.

Having stolen Doug Liman’s ‘when are we gonna get a sequel?’ science-fiction blockbuster Edge of Tomorrow from under the nose of Tom Cruise, and become one of the best action-moms since Sarah Connor in the A Quiet Place franchise, Deadline reports that Blunt is in talks to star in Universal Pictures, 87North and Entertainment 360’s The Fall Guy.

Gosling is preparing to take on the role made famous by Lee Majors, that of a Hollywood stunt-man who runs a side-hustle as a bounty hunter in order to make ends meet, while David Leitch (Deadpool 2, Bullet Train) is on board to direct.

The Fall Guy was created by Glen A. Larson and ran for 113 episodes between 1981-1986. Plot details for the film, as well as who Blunt could be playing, are all being kept under wraps, but we do know that the film has been given a March 1st, 2024 release date and production is all set to get underway in Sydney, Australia.

Emily Blunt was last seen alongside Dwayne Johnson in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, and will next be seen on the big screen in Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, which is set to open in July 2023.
