Will Smith slavery drama Emancipation gets a trailer and poster

Apple TV+ has debuted the first trailer for Emancipation, the upcoming drama from director Antoine Fuqua which sees Will Smith looking to put The Slap behind him as he takes on the role of an enslaved man who embarks on a perilous journey, risking his life to reunite with his family after escaping the plantation owners who almost killed him. Inspired by the gripping true story of a man who would do anything for his family – and for freedom. When Peter, an enslaved man, risks his life to escape and return to his family, he embarks on a perilous journey of love and endurance.

Joining Will Smith in the cast of Emancipation are Ben Foster, Mustafa Shakir, Gilbert Owuor, Michael Luwoye, Charmaine Bingwa, Ronnie Gene Bivens, Aaron Moten, Steven Ogg, and Grant Harvey.

Emancipation arrives in cinemas on December 2nd, and on Apple TV+ on December 9th.
