Marvel’s Thunderbolts adds Ayo Edebiri

January 27, 2023 by Ricky Church

Marvel’s upcoming Thunderbolts has made a new addition to its roster. Joining the MCU film is Ayo Edebiri (The Bear) in an undisclosed role in Marvel’s team-up of villainous or anti-hero characters.

In Marvel comics, the Thunderbolts are a team formed by General Thaddeus ‘Thunderbolt’ Ross, who was previously played in the MCU by William Hurt until his passing last year. Legendary Star Wars and Indiana Jones actor Harrison Ford will be taking over the role in Captain America: New World Order.

MCU projects have been building up to this through the appearances of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, who has personally recruited Falcon and the Winter Soldier‘s John Walker as US Agent and Blade Widow‘s Yelena Belova, pitting the latter up against Hawkeye in his Disney+ series.

Jake Schreier will direct Thunderbolts, which stars Julia Louis-Dreyfus as Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, Hannah John-Kamen as Ava Starr/Ghost, David Harbour as Alexei Shostakov/Red Guardian, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Sebastian Stan as Bucky Barnes/Winter Soldier, Wyatt Russell as John Walker/US Agent and Olga Kurylenko as Antonia Dreykov/Taskmaster.

Thunderbolts is set for a July 26th, 2024 release.
