More news on the distribution wheeling and dealing over at the Cannes Film Festival, with Focus Features paying a staggering $20 million for the worldwide rights for Nocturnal Animals, the sophomore film from director Tom Ford, reports Deadline.
The deal is the biggest of the festival so far, and is reportedly the biggest the festival has seen in a few years. The film is based on a 1993 book called Tony and Susan by Austin Wright, with Oscar nominees Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler) and Amy Adams (Big Eyes) set to star in the film.
The book’s synopsis reads: “Fifteen years ago, Susan Morrow left her first husband Edward Sheffield. One day, comfortable in her home, and her second marriage, she receives, entirely out of the blue, a parcel containing the manuscript of her ex-husband’s first novel.”
No official news on the release date for the film as of yet, but we should expect it some time in 2016.
