Spider-Man: Homecoming 2’s “femme fatale” casting rumour debunked by Marvel’s Kevin Feige

April 29, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 gearing up to go into production this summer ahead of its release next year, we’re starting to get a few tidbits of information about the Marvel and Sony-produced sequel.

Earlier in the week, Marvel Studios chief Kevin Feige confirmed that the sequel will see Spider-Man leaving New York City and visiting a number of overseas locations, and now Feige has debunked one of the previous casting rumours which claimed that the movie was looking to add a “femme fatale” character.

“That was a misleading minor casting search,” Feige told Screen Rant when asked about the possibility of a femme fatale – specifically Black Cat – appearing in the sequel. “None of those rumors are true at all.”

Given that Sony intends on using Black Cat in its now-delayed Silver & Black spinoff, it isn’t really surprising that Marvel has no plans to introduce Felicia Hardy into its Cinematic Universe, which would either lead to two competing versions of the character, or tie the MCU into Sony’s planned ‘Spider-Verse’.

Spider-Man: Homecoming 2 is slated for release on July 5th 2019 and will reunite Homecoming director Jon Watts with star Tom Holland.
