Rumour: Captain Marvel will be a bigger game-changer than Avengers: Infinity War

May 10, 2018 by Samuel Brace

A rumour has surfaced claiming that Captain Marvel will be a bigger game changer than Avengers: Infinity War.

Marvel Studios has received a lot of praise for how different the likes of Thor: Ragnarok were, the uniqueness of Black Panther, and now Avengers: Infinity War has dramatically changed the landscape of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

But according to a report from ScreenGeek, Captain Marvel is going to surpass all of them. One of their sources has offered insight into what audiences can expect from the 90s set movie, and while the source is unidentified and shouldn’t be taken as gospel, what they have to say is tantalising indeed:

“Though Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther and Avengers: Infinity War were all different and original movies, nothing is going to be as different and original as Captain Marvel. The upcoming movie from Anna Bolden and Ryan Fleck is going to change the Marvel Cinematic Universe and give us something no one has seen before – and something that no fan is expecting.

“Wonder Woman was obviously considered a very important movie for women, but Captain Marvel is going to blow it away. It will completely redefine superhero movies – similar to how Marvel Studios changed everything back in 2008. If you thought Infinity War was a game-changer, you’re not ready for what’s coming in Captain Marvel.”

Well, that’s high praise indeed. Whether or not it’s anything to hang your hat on will remain to be seen but fans of the character will surely be hoping that the above words turn out to be true. Can Captain Marvel really make such a huge impact?

Meanwhile, you can check out the latest set photos featuring Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers here…

The story follows Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe’s most powerful heroes when Earth is caught in the middle of a galactic war between two alien races. Set in the 1990s, “Captain Marvel” is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Captain Marvel is being directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck (Mississippi Grind) and sees Brie Larson (Kong: Skull Island) leading the cast as Carol Danvers alongside Samuel L. Jackson (The Avengers), Ben Mendelsohn (Rogue One: A Star Wars Story), Djimon Hounsou (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lee Pace (Guardians of the Galaxy), Lashana Lynch (Fast Girls), Gemma Chan (Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them), Algenis Perez Soto (Sambá), Rune Temte (Eddie The Eagle), McKenna Grace (I, Tonya), Annette Bening (American Beauty) with Clark Gregg (The Avengers), and Jude Law (Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald).
