Rumour: Donald Glover and Michael B. Jordan “in talks” for Black Panther 2

May 25, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

Although we’re yet to get any kind of official confirmation on Black Panther 2 – presumably due to the events of Avengers: Infinity War – it has been reported that Marvel Studios is in talks with director Ryan Coogler about a return to Wakanda, and now comes word of two possible additions to the cast.

According to Metro, Coogler is in “informal talks” with Donald Glover about a possible role in the movie, while the site also reports that Michael B. Jordan could be set to reprise his role as Erik Killmonger.

“They’re still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain,” claims the “source.”

The fate of Killmonger in the first movie not withstanding, it’s worth pointing out that Donald Glover already has a role in the Marvel Cinematic Universe having appeared in Spider-Man: Homecoming as Aaron Davis.

So, whether Marvel is considering adding Glover to the small group of actors who have multiple roles in the MCU, is lining up Prowler for Black Panther 2’s villain, or the report is just pure speculation / poorly-researched guesswork on Metro’s behalf, we shall leave to you to decide…

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Black Panther sees Ryan Coogler (Creed) directing Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa alongside Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Sterling K. Brown as N’Jobu, John Kani as King T’Chaka and Nabiyah Be as Linda.
