Tom Hanks wanted to make a cameo appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story

May 30, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Tom Hanks wanted to make an appearance as a Stormtrooper in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

Appearing in a Star Wars film is the dream of many actors across the generations and we have seen numerous big name actors appear in cameo roles (sometimes in roles that were cut) as Stormtroopers in the past, just so they could say they did.

Tom Hanks was the latest Hollywood star who expressed interest in being involved and was speaking to Ron Howard about making a cameo appearance in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Unfortunately, due to scheduling conflicts, Hanks wasn’t able to get his wish, as director Ron Howard explains to JOE.ie:

“Tom Hanks was interested in being a Stormtrooper. It would have been great. He was shooting and he just couldn’t get there. But now that Lucasfilm knows that Tom Hanks is interested, I’m sure they’ll work it out some day.”

So, not all hope is lost for Hanks. There will surely be plenty of opportunities for the actor to secure that coveted Star Wars cameo at some point in the near future.
