Black Panther’s Michael B. Jordan is open to returning as Killmonger in the MCU

June 19, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Michael B. Jordan, the actor behind Black Panther’s Killmonger, says he is open to returning to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Good villains are hard to come by, especially in the world of superhero movies. Too often have otherwise excellent films in the genre been weighed down by a weak antagonist who lacks anything more than a potent physical threat.

Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger is widely considered to be one of the best villain’s Marvel have so far brought to the big screen, however, so perhaps there will be a way for us to see him again. According to Jordan himself, when speaking to MTV, he is open to the idea:

“I mean, I’m a fan, as you said, of Marvel, of comic books, everybody knows that. So I mean if there was ever an opportunity for me to come back and like join this universe and work with like Joe Russo, Kevin Feige, Victoria [Alonso], and everyone over there at Marvel, re-team with Ryan [Coogler] you know, of course I would.”

As it happens, an as-yet-unconfirmed rumour has suggested that Jordan could be in line for a return in Black Panther 2, while Ryan Coogler is also said to be eyeing Donald Glover (who has already appeared in the MCU as Aaron Davis in Spider-Man: Homecoming).

Would you be interested in seeing Jordan reprise the role of Killmonger in a future MCU film? Or should Marvel only look forward?

After the events of Captain America: Civil War, King T’Challa returns home to the reclusive, technologically advanced African nation of Wakanda to serve as his country’s new leader. However, T’Challa soon finds that he is challenged for the throne from factions within his own country. When two foes conspire to destroy Wakanda, the hero known as Black Panther must team up with C.I.A. agent Everett K. Ross and members of the Dora Milaje, Wakandan special forces, to prevent Wakanda from being dragged into a world war.

Black Panther sees Ryan Coogler (Creed) directing Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa alongside Lupita Nyong’o as Nakia, Michael B. Jordan as Erik Killmonger, Danai Gurira as Okoye, Winston Duke as M’Baku, Forest Whitaker as Zuri, Daniel Kaluuya as W’Kabi, Angela Bassett as Ramonda, Florence Kasumba as Ayo, Martin Freeman as Everett Ross, Andy Serkis as Ulysses Klaue, Letitia Wright as Shuri, Sterling K.
