Nicolas Cage finally gets his chance to play the Man of Steel this summer as he lends his voice to Superman in the Warner Bros. animated film Teen Titans Go! to the Movies, but it seems that may not be the only superhero role he has lined up for this year.
According to Discussing Film, Cage has joined the voice cast of Sony’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, where he is set to portray the Peter Parker of Earth-90214, better known as Spider-Man Noir.
Making his first appearance in 2009, Spider-Man Noir exists in an alternate Earth which is set in 1933 during the Great Depression, and – unlike the Peter Parker of the 616 – is a feared and brutal vigilante who isn’t averse to employing a variety of firearms in his war on the criminal element of New York City.

Phil Lord and Christopher Miller, the creative minds behind The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street, bring their unique talents to a fresh vision of a different Spider-Man Universe, with a groundbreaking visual style that’s the first of its kind. Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduces Brooklyn teen Miles Morales, and the limitless possibilities of the Spider-Verse, where more than one can wear the mask. Directed by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, and Rodney Rothman, the screenplay is by Phil Lord. The film is produced, in association with Marvel, by Avi Arad, Amy Pascal, Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Christina Steinberg.
Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is set for release on December 14th 2018.
