Marvel’s Kevin Feige has “vague ideas” for the X-Men and Fantastic Four

July 11, 2018 by Gary Collinson

With Kevin Feige out and about on the press tour for Ant-Man and the Wasp, The Los Angeles Daily News managed to grab a few words from the Marvel Studios chief about the impending Disney takeover of Fox, although Feige’s response will sound very familiar to those who’ve been following developments over the past few months.

“My desire is to get Ant-Man and the Wasp in theaters and successful,” said Feige. “Then complete filming on Captain Marvel this week and to get the next Spider-Man on camera, then to continue to work on Avengers 4 in the cutting room. I’m very busy for the foreseeable future.”

Feige has previously said that he expects it will be “a number of years” before we see X-Men and Fantastic Four as part of the MCU, but with the deal edging ever closer, he did go on to admit that he’s been giving it some thought:

“I have vague dreams and vague ideas. But right now, bringing to life the 10,000 plus characters that Marvel fully controls is what the gameplan is.”

It’s understandable that Feige won’t want to devote too much time to the possible Fox acquisition, particularly as Comcast is still keen on gazumping Disney and is expected to make an increased offer for the assets. For the time being, all we can do is hope the deal is signed, sealed and delivered as quickly as possible.
