Sin City film and TV rights revert back to Frank Miller

July 28, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Comic book creator Frank Miller has regained the film and TV rights to Sin City, having reached a deal with Lantern Capital partners, who recently acquired the holdings of The Weinstein Company following the latter’s bankruptcy in the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal.

Miller had objected to Sin City being part of the TWC sale, and has now reached a settlement with Lantern which gives him the TV rights, as well as the rights to the first Sin City movie, which he co-directed with Robert Rodriguez in 2005. The 2014 sequel, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For, was not part of the settlement.

The Weinstein Company had announced plans for a Sin City TV series from Glen Mazzara (The Walking Dead) and Len Wiseman (Underworld) back in May of last year, but the project did not move forward.

The world of Sin City seems ripe for a TV adaptation / anthology series, and with the rights now with Miller, don’t be surprised if we hear some news in the very near future.
