Simon Pegg fears the Star Trek cast may be too old by the time Quentin Tarantino’s film is made

July 31, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Simon Pegg thinks there is a chance that he and the Star Trek cast will be too old by the time Quentin Tarantino’s film is realised.

We’ve known for quite some time now that iconic director Quentin Tarantino has pitched a script for a Star Trek film, and that this movie and S.J. Clarkson’s Star Trek 4, are in various stages of development.

Speaking to the Edmonton Journal, however, Simon Pegg isn’t sure that Tarantino’s film will get underway quick enough for him and the other current cast members to play a part:

“I’ve met with S.J. [Clarkson] and she’s fizzing with ideas and she has the right attitude. She’s reverent but she’s not slavish. In terms of the story, I have a vague knowledge but it’s nothing I can talk about… Quentin’s idea is another thing. He came into Bad Robot and pitched it and it’s been put in the bank. I think he had us in mind when he came up with the idea; he likes the new cast. But he’s going to be so busy with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood that I can’t see him doing it for five or six years, by which time we might be too old anyway.”

As Pegg mentions, Tarantino’s latest effort, Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, is currently the focus and is due for release in July 2019.
