As the film celebrates its 25th anniversary, it has been revealed that 20th Century Fox is in advanced development on a prequel to the 1993 coming-of-age baseball comedy The Sandlot.
The new movie will see the return of original writer and director David Mickey Evans, who will pen the script with Austin Reynolds. Further details are being kept under wraps.
The Sandlot followed a group of young kids who accidentally sacrifice a baseball signed by Babe Ruth to the feared neighborhood dog The Beast, and face a race against time to retrieve it. The movie was followed by two direct-to-video sequels in 2005 and 2007.
