Robert Rodriguez is being sued over Sin City sequel

August 23, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Director Robert Rodriguez is being sued over his film Sin City: A Dame to Kill For.

Sin City was a big hit with fans and critics, with the visually spectacular film truly standing out upon release back in 2005. The 2014 sequel, however, didn’t go over so well, and A Dame to Kill has also caused problems for the director thanks to its expensive cost.

Producer Sergei Bespalov is suing Rodriguez over the film, as it reportedly went way over budget and cost Bespalov $20 million. According to the suit filed with the California Superior Court, Rodriguez exhibited a “pattern of misbehavior” which resulted in film going over budget.

“When the dust settled, SC2 Productions ended up financing almost $15 million in cost overruns over the approved budget Rodriguez had agreed to, and was obligated to, work within when filming Sin City 2,” the suit details (via Deadline). “SC2 Productions should not have to shoulder the costs of Rodriguez’s false representations, failure to perform and many egregious breaches of various contracts related to the film.”

That certainly makes for bad reading if your Robert Rodriguez. While the world quickly moved on from Sin City: A Dame to Kill For it seems the director won’t be allowed to forget the film quite yet.
