Kristen Stewart talks Charlie’s Angels reboot

September 1, 2018 by Gary Collinson

Back in July it was announced that Sony has set  Kristen Stewart (Personal Shopper), Naomi Scott (Power Rangers) and Ella Balinska (Midsomer Murders) for the big screen reboot of the classic 70s TV series Charlie’s Angels, and now Kristen Stewart has shared a few words with ET (via THR) about the film and its planned tone.

““We are not trying to do an impression of the [previous movies],” said Stewart, referring to the two movies starring Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu. “The re-imagining is so grounded and well-intentioned and really shows the way women can work together now. It tries to be warm and funny, but it lacks a kitsch element that we have seen before that works so well.”

Elizabeth Banks (Pitch Perfect 2) is set to direct the new film, as well as portraying the character of Bosley. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but we do know that the film will reimagine the Townsend Agency as a global security and intelligence service.

Charlie’s Angels is slated for release on September 27th 2019.
