Jack Black wants to make a Nacho Libre sequel

September 10, 2018 by Gary Collinson

During an appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, actor Jack Black has revealed that he still has ambitions to don the luchador mask once more for a sequel to the 2006 wrestling comedy Nacho Libre.

The original film was directed by Jared Hess (Napoleon Dynamite) from a script by Jared and Jerusha Hess and Mike White and was loosely based upon the story of Fray Tormenta, a Catholic priest in Mexico who moonlighted as a masked wrestling in order to financially support his orphanage. It went on to gross almost $100 million worldwide.

This isn’t the first time at Black has expressed his interest in reprising the role of orphanage cook-turned-wrestler Ignacio, stating back in 2006 that: “I sure hope [there’s a sequel]. I love working with Jared. I think it’s a good bet that we’ll collaborate on something again. Mike had an idea that it would be Nacho goes to Japan, we’ll see though.”

Would you like to see a Nacho Libre sequel? Let us know in the comments below…
