My Arcade bringing classic table-top arcade titles to Europe in 2018

September 14, 2018 by Villordsutch

Arriving soon in your favourite gaming store is a whole stack of My Arcade machines, for Sony DADC have announced that they will soon start shipping such classics as Pac-Man, Dig Dug and Galaga out to the shores of Europe.   These will be arriving not only in an up-to-date fantastic looking 16-bit handheld portable ‘Pocket Player’ format, but also as an authentic looking table-top ‘Micro Player’ arcade machine style too.  Check out the images below of the Pac-Man releases to get a taste of what’s to come…
First amongst the products to ship will be the Micro Player arcades, officially licensed from BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment Inc., and including PAC-MAN, GALAGA and DIG DUG, enduring classics that are sure to appeal to gamers of all ages.

The Micro Player arcades feature artwork inspired by the original cabinets, large full-coloured screens, backlit coin traps, plus a removable joystick for those who prefer to use a directional pad to play.

The PAC-MAN Pocket Player is a brand new 16-bit handheld console featuring a compact, portable and ergonomic design, and boasts a full color screen. The Pocket Player include three classic PAC-MAN titles, including original arcade favorite PAC-MAN, along with PAC-PANIC and PAC-MANIA.

Expected to begin shipping towards the end of 2018, My Arcade will also be previewing the NAMCO Museum Mini Player at Gamescom 2018. Packed with 20 classic titles and featuring a large vertical-oriented screen for authentic arcade gameplay, the Mini Player features dual front facing speakers for optimal sound, a detachable joystick, and back-lit marquee and coin trap. All titles included on the device are the original arcade versions of the games, unless no original arcade version is available.

“We are honored to work with BANDAI NAMCO Entertainment to bring such iconic titles to a new generation of gamers,” remarked Crystal Dugan, My Arcade’s Marketing Manager. “Classics like PAC-MAN, DIG DUG and GALAGA are nostalgic titles for myself and everyone who grew up playing them at their local arcade. They are such an important part of gaming history and we are thrilled to bring these backs in a unique way to a whole new audience.”

The licensed Micro Player Arcades and Pocket Player are shipping now from Amazon and other leading game retailers. The NAMCO Museum Mini Player is expected to begin shipping towards the end of 2018.
