Joaquin Phoenix clowns around in latest Joker set photos

October 15, 2018 by Amie Cranswick

After a few weeks of causing havoc on the subway system in his full Clown Prince of Crime costume, Joaquin Phoenix is back on the set of DC Films’ Joker and thanks to The Daily Mail and Just Jared, we’ve got some new photos of his Arthur Fleck, this time in full clown costume.

These shots are presumably pre-“descent into madness”, and as he’s holding a store sale sign in one of the photos, one would have to assume that Arthur’s career maybe isn’t going entirely as he’d have hoped. And, with the make-up he’s sporting being awfully similar to his Joker look, it seems a pretty safe bet that being stuck in such a job isn’t going to do much for poor Arthur’s mental state.

Check out the set photos via the Twitter link below…

Joker centers around the iconic arch nemesis and is an original, standalone story not seen before on the big screen. Todd Phillips’ exploration of Arthur Fleck (Joaquin Phoenix), a man disregarded by society, is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale.

Joker is set for release on October 4th 2019 and stars Joaquin Phoenix (The Sisters Brothers), Robert De Niro (Goodfellas), Zazie Beetz (Deadpool 2), Bill Camp (Red Sparrow), Frances Conroy (American Horror Story), Brett Cullen (Narcos), Glenn Fleshler (Billions), Douglas Hodge (Penny Dreadful), Marc Maron (GLOW), Josh Pais (Motherless Brooklyn), and Shea Whigham (Kong: Skull Island).
