Avengers: Infinity War actor Ross Marquand hopes he can return as Red Skull

December 11, 2018 by Samuel Brace

Ross Marquand, the actor behind Red Skull in Avengers: Infinity War, hopes he can return as the character one day.

Red Skull was the last person people were expecting to see during Thanos’ quest to collect the last stone during Infinity War. The character returned to the big screen for the first time since Captain American: The First Avenger, this time played by Ross Marquand.

Marquand is a big comic book fan and getting to play the character was a dream true. Speaking at San Jose Fest (via ComicBook.com), the actor says that he hopes it isn’t the last time:

“I loved playing Red Skull, I hope I can come back and play him again. We’ll see. That’s one of the characters that I drew the most as a kid. I would draw Sabretooth, I would draw Omega Red — a lot of Omega Red, surprisingly — Mephisto, and Logan [Wolverine], obviously. But Red Skull was probably one of the first characters that I learned to draw, so this is like the craziest, most amazing dream.”

Marquand doesn’t know if Red Skull will return – even in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, apparently – but he does have another character in mind just in case: “But on the off chance that that character — I don’t know if he’s out of the MCU, or if he’s free to roam, or whatever — but if he doesn’t come back, I would love to play Moon Knight. Because that’s kind of Marvel’s — he gets compared to Batman a lot, like Marvel’s Batman, but he’s such an amazing character.”
