Star Wars: The Clone Wars season 7 and The Mandalorian will both arrive in 2019

January 8, 2019 by Gary Collinson

2019 is shaping up to be a very big year for Star Wars fans. Not only do we have J.J. Abrams’ Star Wars: Episode IX to look forward to this December, but it has now been confirmed that both season seven of Star Wars: The Clone Wars and the live-action series The Mandalorian will be with us before the year end.

The two shows are being produced exclusively for the new Disney+ streaming service, which is scheduled to arrive late in the year, and while we don’t know if they’ll be available as launch titles, Entertainment Weekly is reporting that both series will arrive at some point in 2019.

The return of The Clone Wars was announced during last year’s San Diego Comic-Con, with Lucasfilm and creator Dave Filoni reviving the fan favourite CG-animated series for a new batch of 12 episodes, which will explore “the unfinished business between Anakin Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi and their exiled Jedi-in-training Ahsoka Tano.”

The Mandalorian meanwhile will mark the first ever live-action Star Wars TV show, and has Jon Favreau (The Jungle Book) serving as executive producer. Featuring in the cast are Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones), Gina Carano (Deadpool), Carl Weathers (Rocky), Nick Nolte (Afflication), Giancarlo Esposito (Breaking Bad), Emily Swallow (Supernatural), Omid Abtahi (American Gods) and Werner Herzog (Grizzly Man).
