Wonder Woman 3 will have a contemporary setting, says Patty Jenkins

January 28, 2019 by Gary Collinson

A few days ago, Wonder Woman and Wonder Woman 1984 director Patty Jenkins revealed that she already had some “pretty clear plans” for the Amazon Princess’ third solo outing, and now the filmmaker has revealed to THR that unlike the first two movies, Wonder Woman 3 will have a contemporary setting.

“I’m not set, but I’m not doing another period piece,” said Jenkins. I’m not planning to put it in the past again, because where are you going to go? You have to go forward. It’s definitely a contemporary story. That’s all I can say. Where we put it and how that gets figured out, I haven’t totally nailed down.”

Of course, it’s a little too early to start thinking about a third film, what with the second almost a year and a half out from its release. However, let us know in the comments below if you’re happy that Wonder Woman 3 will bring Gal Gadot’s Amazon Princess into the present day, or if you’d have preferred to see more of her earlier adventures…
