Elisabeth Moss joins Blumhouse’s The Invisible Man

April 16, 2019 by Caillou Pettis

UPDATE: It has now been confirmed that Elisabeth Moss has finalised her deal to join Blumhouse Productions and director Leigh Whannell’s (Upgrade) Universal Monsters movie The Invisible Man. Original story follows…

Reports are circulating that Elisabeth Moss (Us, The Old Man & the Gun) is in early talks for a lead role in the upcoming retelling of the classic horror story The Invisible Man. Additionally, it was recently confirmed that Leigh Whannell (Insidious: The Last Key, Upgrade) will be directing and penning the script for the film.

Currently, plot details are being kept under wraps, but it will be part of a fresh push from Universal Pictures to create new films centered around their monster properties, which includes Frankenstein, Dracula, and the Wolf Man.

In 2017, Universal released the first picture in their proposed “Dark Universe” series with the remake of The Mummy. After the film’s negative reception from critics and audiences, many deemed it unlikely for the studio to continue releasing new entries for the franchise.

The Invisible Man will be produced by Blumhouse Productions founder Jason Blum (Halloween, Get Out). Previously, it was revealed that Johnny Depp would star in the title role, but these plans were shelved with the Dark Universe and he will have no involvement with this iteration.
