Zombie survival game DayZ out now on Xbox One

March 27, 2019 by Andrew Newton

It’s time for surviving a walking-dead style scenario as Bohemia Interactive’s online survival game Day Z finally arrives on Xbox One.  This post-apocalyptic open world allows for rich player interaction as everyone competes for survival.  Watch the new gameplay trailer below…

Day Z is set in the post-soviet country of Chernarus where a mysterious epidemic has broke out causing a majority of the population to turn into crazed infected zombie like creatures out for blood.  Those survivors who are left must find a way to ensure their own survival by any means, including fighting other survivors for the precious few resources that remain.  Though it isn’t just the infected and other survivors that pose a threat, the elements and wild animals will also prove to be very dangerous.

This unforgiving world will be home for up to 60 players at a time who will all be trying to be the last one to survive.  Players can expect no help or advice from the game, no tutorials and no way points, it will be a game of diving straight in and learning from mistakes.  Anyone who dies in Day Z will lose their equipment, their character progress and realise how horrible permadeath actually is.

Day Z features:

  • Detailed open world terrain featuring 230 square kilometres of hand-crafted environment based on real life locations.
  • 60 players on the server, all fighting for survival by any means necessary.
  • Environmental dangers include the infected, dynamic weather and animal predators.
  • Wide variety of complex survival mechanics – from hunting and crafting, through sophisticated injury simulation and transferable diseases.
  • Persistent servers with a complex loot economy and the ability to build improvised bases.
  • Visceral gun play and melee combat systems.
  • Smooth and reactive character controller utilizing a detailed animation system.
  • Drive vehicles for travel and material transport.

Gamers can download Day Z now on Xbox One for £41.99 / $49.99 / €49.99.
