Netflix is looking to team Melissa McCarthy (Ghostbusters) and Octavia Spencer (Instant Family) for the upcoming superhero comedy Thunder Force.
The film is being written and directed by McCarthy’s husband Ben Falcone, who helmed the comedies Tammy, The Boss and Life of the Party as well as the upcoming Superintelligence, and while specific plot details are being kept under wraps, the film will see McCarthy and Spencer playing two women who obtain superpowers.
McCarthy will next be seen in the DC/Vertigo comic book adaptation The Kitchen, which opens in August, followed by the action-comedy Superintelligence. Spencer meanwhile has the thriller Ma incoming in May, along with The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle, Onward and The Witches in 2020.
