Woody Harrelson to play the villain in War of the Planet of the Apes

September 15, 2015 by Scott J. Davis

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that Oscar Nominee Woody Harrelson (True Detective) is set to play the villain in the new Planet of the Apes film.

Details on the third film in the rebooted series are being kept under wraps for now, but word is that Harrelson will play the big bad known as the Colonel in the film, which is called War of the Planet of the Apes.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes director Matt Reeves returns behind the camera, as does screenwriter Mark Bomback. No news on whether anyone in the cast will be back, but with the story continuing to follow Caesar, its safe to say that Andy Serkis will probably return for more motion capture.

War of the Planet of the Apes is set for release on July 21st, 2017.
