Gambit loses its director

September 17, 2015 by Luke Owen

News has broken today that director Rupert Wyatt (Rise of the Planet of the Apes) has left 20th Century Fox’s X-Men spinoff Gambit.

Deadline are reporting that Fox made the decision to push the production of the film – which will see Channing Tatum play the titular role – back to March, and for that reason Wyatt is no longer available to direct.

“I was very much looking forward to working with my friend Channing and the team at Fox, but regrettably a push in the start date now conflicts with another project,” Wyatt said in a statement. “I thank them for the opportunity, and I know that Gambit will make a terrific film.”

Fox will be quick to act now in finding a new director for the movie.
