Are the Oliver Twins making a new Dizzy game?

September 18, 2015 by Villordsutch

Here is a true blast from the very dust-caked past for those of you of a certain age, and those who remember when 8-bit games where just actually called “games”.

If can you recall when we traded these games upon magnetic tape we called “cassettes”, then you will also remember a certain egg from the Oliver Twins and  Codemasters who wore red boots and red boxing gloves.

This egg was called Dizzy and we all loved him. The platform-jumping, puzzle-solving hard-shelled ovum was brilliant – and he may be coming back!

Yesterday evening on the Dizzy Facebook page the below message was posted, and nothing more followed except the thank you…

There were nine Dizzy games in total, with the Oliver Brothers only overseeing the first three main adventures before they left the series altogether.  However there were also a number of spin-off Dizzy games which didn’t involve platforms or puzzle solving including Fast Food Dizzy, Bubble Dizzy and Dizzy Panic!.

The Oliver Twins are known for their constant input throughout the past four decades in the gaming community and have continued up until this present day, where they have founded Radiant Worlds with Richard Smithies.  Radiant Worlds are currently developing SkySaga – which is in Alpha stage – and you can find more information on it here.

Villordsutch likes his sci-fi and looks like a tubby Viking according to his children. Visit his website and follow him on Twitter.
