Philip K. Dick’s The Great C now available on Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream

April 30, 2019 by Andrew Newton

VR developer Secret Location has released The Great C, the first ever VR adaption of a Philip K. Dick story to mobile VR audiences on Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream.  Initially released for HTC Vive and Oculus Rift towards the end of 2018, The Great C provides a 37 minute dramatic sci-fi adventure with a touching storyline.

In The Great C, players are transported to a post-apocalyptic landscape where the few remaining human settlements are governed by an all powerful supercomputer known as the Great C.  Every year, this titular computer demands a young person be sent on a pilgrimage from which there is no return.  When Clare, a young woman who discovers her fiance has been chosen as the year’s ‘sacrifice’, she must leave her settlement and decide whether to accept the computer’s rules or fight against its tyranny.

“Philip K. Dick’s cautionary tale on the pitfalls of worshiping technology is especially relevant in today’s society and our adaptation of The Great C stands strong as an example of how a VR narrative can be riveting while still conveying an important message,” said Ryan Andal, president of Secret Location. “We hope to introduce The Great C’s truly cinematic production value and storytelling to the millions of mobile VR users seeking a new sci-fi adventure to experience.”

The Great C is available now on Oculus Go, Samsung Gear VR and Google Daydream.
