It’s no secret that Zack Snyder’s original vision for Justice League differed greatly from what we eventually saw on screen back in 2017.
While it seems highly unlikely that we’ll ever see said vision realised with the release of a Snyder Cut, the filmmaker has been kind enough to offer fans little glimpses of his plans through the social media platform Vero.
His latest post, shared yesterday, gives us our very first peek at Darkseid, the fearsome ruler of Apokolips who Snyder first teased in 2016’s Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and was being set up as the DCEU’s ultimate big bad in a Justice League sequel.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.
