The president of Marvel Studios, Kevin Feige, has explained how the Black Widow prequel movie could work and impact the MCU.
Prequels are always a tricky business and many fans have been wondering just how a prequel movie starring Black Widow is going to work in the MCU, especially since the fate of the character is already known.
Well, Kevin Feige spoke to io9 about this very subject, saying that they might take inspiration from successful prequels such as Better Call Saul to see how the film could still reveal big things about the MCU:
“There’s a method to the madness. There’s always a method and doing things in an unexpected way is something we find fun. There are ways to do prequels that are less informative or answer questions you didn’t necessarily have, and then there are ways to do prequels where you learn all sorts of things you never knew before.

“I look at Better Call Saul as a wonderful example of a prequel that almost completely stands on its own apart from Breaking Bad because it informs you about so many things you didn’t know about before. So time will tell which way we’ve gone with a supposed Black Widow move.”

Meanwhile, as filming on the solo outing continues, Variety is reporting that Ray Winstone (Sexy Beast) has joined the cast of the film in an unspecified role. He joins the returning Scarlett Johansson and MCU newcomers David Harbour (Hellboy), Florence Pugh (Fighting With My Family), Rachel Weisz (The Favourite) and O-T Fagbenle (The Handmaid’s Tale) in the movie, which is being directed by Cate Shortland (Lore).
