Robert De Niro joins Leonardo DiCaprio in Martin Scorsese’s Killers of the Flower Moon

July 30, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Martin Scorsese is set to bring two of his most frequent collaborators together for his next directorial effort, with reports circulating that Robert De Niro has joined Leonardo DiCaprio in the cast of Killers of the Flower Moon.

Based on David Grann’s bestselling book Killers of the Flower Moon, the film will detail one of the F.B.I.’s first investigations –  string of murders of members of the Native American Osage nation in Oklahoma after oil was discovered beneath their land back in the 1920s.

According to The Osage News (via Screen Rant), De Niro has been cast in a key role as cattleman William ‘Bill’ Hale, while the report also states that the film will be shot on location in Osage County, with Scorsese and company working closely with the Osage Nation to ensure the portrayal of the tribe and its culture is as accurate as possible.

Filming on Killers of the Flower Moon is slated to get underway in the spring of 2020. First up from Scorsese and De Niro however is the $200 million-budgeted mob epic The Irishman, which is set to premiere at the New York Film Festival in September.
