Martin Freeman returning for Marvel’s Black Panther 2

August 17, 2019 by Gary Collinson

Although it was absent from Marvel’s Phase Four slate reveal at the San Diego Comic-Con, we do know that Black Panther director Ryan Coogler is already hard at work developing a sequel to last year’s hugely successful superhero movie, and now Martin Freeman has revealed that his character Everett Ross looks to be heading back to Wakanda.

“As far as I know, I will be [returning],” said Freeman when asked by Collider about his potential return in Black Panther 2. “As far as I know, I will be in another Black Panther. That’s my understanding. As to when that will happen, I don’t know.”

Freeman made his debut as CIA agent Everett Ross in Captain America: Civil War before reprising the role for Black Panther. The sequel will see him reuniting with the previously confirmed Chadwick Boseman (T’Challa) and Letitia Wright (Shuri), while it’s expected that the likes of Danai Gurira (Okoye), Angela Bassett (Ramonda) and Lupita Nyong’o (Nakia) will all be back.

It’s also been reported on several occasions that Coogler is looking to bring back Michael B. Jordan’s Killmonger in some capacity, although Marvel’s Kevin Feige recently brushed that off as “pure rumour”.

Black Panther 2 is currently without a release date, but isn’t expected until 2022 at the earliest.
