Back in June, Walt Disney Pictures and Pixar Animation Studios officially announced the original animated feature Soul, set for release in June 2020, and now we have some details about the film direct from the D23 Expo.

During the Pixar panel, the studio’s Chief Creative Officer Pete Doctor announced that Soul “journeys from the streets of New York City to the never-before-seen cosmic realms and ‘The You Seminar,’ the fantastical place where we all discover our unique personalities.”

Jamie Foxx and Tina Fey are set to lead the voice cast of Soul alonsgide the likes of Ahmir Questlove Thompson, Phylicia Rashad, Daveed Diggs, and we also got a first look at their characters: Foxx plays oe Gardner, a middle-school band teacher whose true passion is playing jazz, while Fey voices 22, a soul-in-training who has an unexpected encounter with Joe when he accidentally finds his way to the ‘You Seminar.’ Together, the two are going to find a way to get Joe back to Earth, making him think again about what it truly means to have soul.
