Justice League cinematographer cried “all the way through” Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut

August 30, 2019 by Samuel Brace

Fabian Wagner, who was Zack Snyder’s cinematographer on Justice League, reveals that he cried when he saw Joss Whedon’s theatrical cut.

There were are a lot of very disappointed fans after the Justice League came out. Many are now hoping to see Zack Snyder’s incomplete cut of the movie as the theatrical cut is apparently quite different from the film Snyder had planned before stepping away.

One person who shares fan disappointment is Snyder’s cinematographer on the movie Fabian Wagner. Speaking to Comic Book Debate, he was asked if he had seen the film, he responded: “I have, unfortunately.”

He was then asked how much the film had changed from when he had last seen it as Wagner wasn’t involved in the additional shooting: “It’s really hard to say because I was watching it and I think I was crying all the way through. So it’s hard for me to say exactly how much was changed, but a lot was changed. It looked very different, and it’s sad for me because I loved working with Zack; I had the best time of my life. There were many other things on that movie that made it so good apart from the fact that I was working with Zack and the whole gang. I met my wife on that job. There [were] a lot of other things. It was just a great shoot, and so it was a shame to see the film the way it turned out to be.”

Well, this is a pretty damning indictment of the film, that’s for sure. Hopefully, fans will one day get to see what Snyder originally had planned for the picture.

Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman’s selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes—Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash—it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League reunites Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice stars Henry Cavill as Superman, Ben Affleck as Batman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta and Robin Wright as General Antiope alongside J.K. Simmons (Whiplash) as Commissioner Gordon, Amber Heard (The Danish Girl) as Mera and Ciaran Hinds (Game of Thrones) as Steppenwolf.
