Supernatural star cast as Ryan Choi in DC’s Crisis on Infinite Earths

October 1, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The CW’s big DC crossover event Crisis on Infinite Earths has added another hero to its ranks, with TV Insider reporting that Supernatural actor Osric Chau has been cast in the recurring role of Ryan Choi.

Ryan Choi will be familiar to DC fans as the second incarnation of The Atom after Ray Palmer (Brandon Routh), and his Arrowverse incarnation is described as “a physics professor at Ivy Town University [and] a normal guy who learns that he has a pivotal role to play in the coming crisis on infinite earths.”

I am so beyond excited that I’ve moved past the point screaming to quiet uncapitalized and unexclaimed typing.
This is not my victory, this is another step in a larger movement. So thank you all for your incredible support, for me, for my friends, for our community, I love you ❤️ pic.twitter.com/Swwt2U13aw

Given that Routh and his wife and co-star Courtney Ford are set to depart DC’s Legends of Tomorrow in its upcoming fifth season, it’s certainly not beyond the realm of possibility that Chau’s Ryan Choi is being introduced as his Atom successor, although that is yet to be confirmed at present.

Crisis on Infinite Earths is set to air across five nights – Supergirl on Sunday, December 8th, Batwoman on Monday, December 9th, The Flash on Tuesday, December 10th, and Arrow and DC’s Legends of Tomorrow on Tuesday, January 14th 2020 – and features a host of DC veterans as guest stars, including Smallville’s Tom Welling and Erica Durance as Clark Kent and Lois Lane, The Flash’s John Wesley Shipp as Barry Allen, Batman 66’s Burt Ward, Batman: The Animated Series‘ Kevin Conroy as a future Bruce Wayne, Birds of Prey’s Ashley Scott as Huntress, Brandon Routh as Superman, characters from Black Lightning, and Arrowverse returnees Tyler Hoechlin (Superman), Elizabeth Tulloch (Lois Lane), Jon Cryer (Lex Luthor), LaMonica Garrett (The Monitor/The Anti-Monitor), Johnathon Schaech (Jonah Hex).
