Crisis on Infinite Earths set photo features Burt Ward

October 12, 2019 by Gary Collinson

With filming now underway on The CW’s Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover, a set photo has surfaced showing Batman 66 star Burt Ward shooting scenes for the five-part DC TV event.

Ward was announced as joining the crossover during the San Diego Comic-Con, but unlike other guest stars, his role has been kept tightly under wraps. However, judging by the colour scheme of his sweater, it seems there’s a good chance he’s reprising the role of the Boy Wonder.

So, if Ward is reprising the role of Dick Grayson/Robin, why all the secrecy? Well, this is pure speculation on our part, but seeing as the rights to the Batman TV series belong to Fox (now Disney) as opposed to Warner Bros., perhaps this Dick Grayson isn’t the exact same Dick Grayson we saw alongside Adam West’s Bruce Wayne as part of the Dynamic Duo… officially, at least.

Holy copyright loophole, Batman!

Of course, given that Crisis is dealing with the DC multiverse, Ward could be playing any number of characters (or even himself!), while his involvement may be little more than a brief cameo as a nod to the fans. As for the dog, speculation is already running rampant that we’re looking at Ace the Bat-hound…
