Samara Weaving cast as Scarlett in G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes

October 14, 2019 by Gary Collinson

The Babysitter and Ready or Not star Samara Weaving has become the latest addition to the cast of Paramount and Allspark’s upcoming G.I. Joe spinoff Snake Eyes, with the Australian actress set to take on the role of the crossbow-wielding counter-intelligence officer Scarlett.

Along with Snake Eyes, Scarlett is one of the original members of the G.I. Joe: A Real American Hero line, introduced in 1982, and the two were romantically involved in the Marvel comic book series. The character appeared in the 2009 movie G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra, where she was portrayed by Rachel Nichols.

Snake Eyes is a prequel exploring the origin of the silent commando, with Henry Golding taking on the title role alongside Andrew Koji (Warrior) as Storm Shadow, Iko Uwais (The Raid) as Hard Master, Úrsula Corberó (Money Heist) as The Baroness, and Haruka Abe (Ideal) in an as-yet-unrevealed role.

Weaving was seen on the big screen earlier this year in the hit comedy horror Ready or Not; her upcoming films include Guns Akimbo with Daniel Radcliffe, and Bill & Ted Face the Music with Keanu Reeves and Alex Winter.

Robert Schwentke (R.I.P.D.) is directing Snake Eyes from a script by Evan Spiliotopoulos (Beauty and the Beast) and the film is set for release on October 16th 2020.
